Gus joined the team in January 2015, after working with a variety of sports people in a sports injuries clinic in Melbourne. He graduated from the University of Southampton with Honours in Physiotherapy. During his time at University Gus worked with academy sides at Southampton Football Club as a student Physiotherapist, providing pitch side physio on match days as well as seeing players in clinic during the week. He has always had a keen interest in sports and has previously coached football and skiing. Gus also qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist, during his time at University.
He currently works as the First Team Physiotherapist at Tring Rugby Club and has just finished his first season, helping the team to promotion to National Division 3.
Gus has a keen interest in exercise and rehabilitation and is currently working towards becoming a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with the UKSCA. He has undertaken courses on periodisation, plyometrics speed and agility as well as Olympic weight lifting for sport. He works regularly with youth athletes in a strength and conditioning capacity with Ben Reid Performance Coaching based in Milton Keynes.
He has recently attended courses on musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning and is currently developing his skills alongside the team at Elite.
Elite Physical Medicine were perfect for my broken leg! Gus is an absolute legend. I even went back for another unrelated minor pain I’d had for years – and after a thorough assessment Gus recommended a range of exercises and pretty much nailed it after just one session, a true genius.
I broke my ankle towards the end of January this year and was referred to Elite for physiotherapy. I have just finished receiving treatment from them and can’t praise them highly enough. Not only was Gus encouraging at a time when I was feeling very worried and low, he was clearly very knowledgeable and took time to explain the science behind his recommendations.
