Elite’s tennis-pro-turned-physio Emma Hurst came out of retirement and travelled to Washington DC to represent Great Britain this summer.
In Washington, Emma competed in the open category, playing both doubles and singles against The USA, Germany and Luxembourg.
She described the event as being diverse and inclusive, with female players ranging in age from their 30s to their 60s.
"It was great to be back in the tennis environment playing competitively again."
Not only does Emma have considerable experience of training and competing at a professional level, she also knows what it's like to be a patient and have sporting injuries get in her way.
Emma said:
"I've been rehabbing my knee recently lately and despite playing six matches in three days, I didn't get any pain whilst playing".
Emma’s tennis career was cut short by a recurring knee injury, leading her to a career as a Physiotherapist. Not only is she an excellent therapist but she’s more able than most to empathise with patients.
