Karen graduated with a 1st Degree in BSc (hons) Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University in 2000. As a Bobath Trained Physiotherapist, Karen has gained extensive experience in Neurological Rehabilitation, specialising in 2002 and completing an MSc in the Bobath Concept at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2010. Karen has completed further post-graduate training in the Management of Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury and the Management of the Upper Limb.
Karen has worked in various settings as a Clinical Specialist in Neurorehabilitation within the NHS and private practice. Within Buckinghamshire, Karen was Therapy Manager at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, home of the International Spinal Injuries Centre. She has recently been accepted onto the Bobath Tutor Training programme.
Karen has taught on undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy courses at Sheffield Hallam University and Leeds Metropolitan University. She has also been invited to give talks for specialist organisations including the Spinal Injuries Association, Case Managers Society and the Primary Care Neurology Society.
Karen has conducted research on Implicit Motor Imagery following Stroke and has a specialist interest in the rehabilitation of the upper limb. Her abstract was published in Clinical Rehabilitation. http://cre.sagepub.com/content/26/6/570.short
Karen is a qualified Matwork Pilates Instructor with the APPI and member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Neurology.
